"The art of afternoon tea dates back to 1840 when the Duchess of Bedford first introduced it to the upper classes in London. It soon caught on, spreading across the country like wildfire, and Bath, of course, was no exception. This is your chance to enjoy this loveliest of English traditions in one of country's loveliest spots. From your privileged position on a terrace on Pulteney Bridge overlooking the River Avon, you'll be served delicate sandwiches, scones, fruit tartlets and pastries freshly baked by French pastry chefs and all washed down with a selection of beverages including loose tea chosen by experts Bartjeman and Barton who have been selecting tea since 1919. Just lovely from start to finish."
