FAQs
You got the questions, we’ve got the answers.
-
Do I have to book a whole day?
We would, of course, love you to but no, it’s not mandatory. Just use the filters on the search page to choose between morning, afternoon and evening experiences.
-
How can I be sure a tour I book is any good?
With so many fake reviews out there, it’s never been more important to make careful and informed decisions on how you spend your hard-earned money and valuable time. Trust and transparency is at the very heart of MakeMyDay. Every experience has been handpicked, tried, tested and vetted by our founder, Nick Boulos, who has spent the past 12 years finding the best things to see and do in cities around the world and writing about them for leading newspapers and magazines.
-
Can I book private tours?
Many of our experiences are available for private groups and families. Contact us with your requirements and let us work our magic. You can email the team at: hello@makemyday.travel.
-
I’m looking at private tours, but the price changes if I change the number of people I’m booking for. Why?
Most of our private tours are priced per group, rather than per person. That means if you add more people to your private booking, the cost per head goes down! A £100 private tour costs £20 each with 5 participants, compared to £50 each with two participants.
-
What if I don’t know what to book?
We totally get it. It’s not a crime to be indecisive and, to be frank, with so many incredible experiences to chose from it can be a little overwhelming. Thankfully, there’s an easy solution. Book one of our MakeMyMysteryDay packages and we’ll decide for you. A short questionnaire will tell us everything we need to know to give you a day you’ll never forget and you’ll know nothing about your secret adventure except when and where to be. It’s all part of the fun. Click here to find out more.
-
Can I purchase tours for someone else?
Yes! For most tours, this is possible. For some tours, however, the cardholder must also be listed as one of the tour participants. This is for credit card security purposes, and is unavoidable. As an alternative, we’d recommend purchasing one of our Adventure Vouchers here – this is redeemable on any of the tours we offer, and doesn’t require the cardholder to be one of the tour participants.
-
What happens if I want to cancel my booking?
Refunds are permitted for most of our experiences provided adequate advance notice is given but this varies. Each experience has a different cancellation and refund policy which is set by the guide or company that runs it. MakeMyDay has no influence on this so we recommend checking this before you book. The information is available on each tour listing.
-
Why is the tour I’m looking for not showing up in the search results?
Our clever search process has been specially designed to only display tours and experiences that are available on your chosen date and by the criteria selected. This is to save time and avoid disappointment. Try adjusting these and if there’s still no joy then contact us at hello@makemyday.travel and we will do all we can to help.
-
Am I able to add a second day of activities to my booking?
Yes, of course? Just complete the process and before heading to checkout, select the option to add another day.
-
Can you help with restaurant recommendations and other tips?
Absolutely! Everyone who books with us will receive a free city guide written by our founder and multi award-winning travel writer, Nick Boulos, so you know you’re in good hands.
-
Can I book tickets to the big attractions through you?
Yep, we’ve got you covered. Click here for a list of essential experiences in each of our cities. As usual, it’s a secure payment portal.
-
Help! I’ve lost my confirmation email.
Don’t panic! Just drop us a line (hello@makemyday.travel) and we’ll resend it.
-
Can I view MakeMyDay in other languages?
Aún no, pero estamos trabajando sobre eso. Or for non-Spanish speakers… Not yet, but we’re working on it. Watch this space.
-
What happens if there’s bad weather on the day of my tour?
Don’t worry! You may have to wrap up and brave a shower or two but the good news is most of our wonderful partners run their tours rain or shine. This does, however, vary at times. Specific details can be found on the listing for any given tour.
-
What happens if my tour is cancelled or unavailable?
In the very unlikely event that the tour you have booked is cancelled or unexpectedly unavailable (it hardly ever happens, honest) then we will do all we can to make it right. This includes notifying you at the earliest possible opportunity and offering you suitable alternative even it has a higher price (we’ll cover the difference). Failing that, we will offer a full refund of the experience plus a voucher as way of apology.
-
What happens if I’m late?
Unfortunately, most of our tours are scheduled to run at a specific time so the guides may not be able to wait for you. You will be armed with their contact information (it’s all in the confirmation email) so call or text them and they will be able to assist you.
-
Where do I meet my tour guide?
We will send you a booking confirmation everything you need to know including the name and telephone number of the guide. It will also detail when and where to meet them, for example: ‘Meet outside exit 3 of Piccadilly Circus underground station at 10am and look for the man holding an orange umbrella.’
-
What should I bring to a tour?
Yourself, and a sense of adventure. Maybe a brolly (an umbrella to non-Brits) if the weather looks a bit iffy. Other than that, a bottle of water and a light snack to keep energy levels high should suffice. Some experiences may require other items, for example: photo ID if you’re lucky enough to look under 25 and have booked one of our pub tours. These will be outlined in the Need to Know part of the listing. Beyond that, don’t forget your email booking confirmation so that the tour guide can verify your identity.
-
Are all your experiences suitable for families and children?
Most are but not all. Some, for example, many include a drink or two or some historical stories of an adult nature. To avoid any embarrassment, look for the Family Friendly or Adults Only tags on the listings.
-
Can I pay by credit card?
Yes – we accept Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.
-
Are my credit card details safe?
Yes, you have nothing to fear. We use Stripe, who operate according to the most stringent security measures available in the payment processing industry. They are trusted by everyone from Amazon to John Lewis. Your information could not be in safer hands.
-
What’s the itinerary fee?
We take great pleasure in helping you create unforgettable days but it takes a lot of people a lot of time to make that magic happen. This small per person fee (less than the price of a coffee) is added to each booking to help us cover our operational costs and provide quality service. We think you’ll agree it’s worth it.
-
What’s your refund policy
We offer refunds for most tours, provided that adequate notice is given. Please note, however, that each experience has a different refund policy set out by the operator. You can find this information under the Need to Know on each tour listing page.
-
Do you offer discounts and concessions?
Sometimes. Many of our experiences offer cheaper prices for students, children and over 65s. Please see each individual listing for further information. At times, we are also able to offer more competitive prices for private group bookings. Email hello@makemyday.travel for details.
-

-
How did MakeMyDay start?
It’s quite an interesting story. You can read all about it here.
-
Do you support sustainable tourism?
We believe tourism can be a force of good but it also poses problems. That’s why we have only partnered with small, independent and socially aware guides and partners. Not only does this support real people and local enterprise but it also ensures that the problems associated with mass tourism are significantly reduced.
-
Do you help charities?
Yes! Helping others is one our founding principles and something that everyone at MakeMyDay is very proud of. We partner with local charities and organisations in each of our destinations pledge time, money and resources to help those less fortunate experience the city they call home in a brand new way. -
How do I make a complaint?
We hope you’ll have nothing to feel unhappy about but if that’s not the case then we absolutely want to hear about it. Please email support@makemyday.travel with your reference number and all the info.
-
How do I let you know that I had a good time?
That’s more like it! We love to hear about your city adventures, so please share your pictures on Instagram (don’t forget to tag us - @MakeMyDay.travel). And, if you can spare the time, we’d really appreciate a glowing review on TrustPilot. Keep the bad ones to yourself ;)
